ST. LOUIS – A major airline company may be laying off thousands of its workers come October.

In a leaked company memo, United Airlines indicated plans to cut at least 3,400 jobs despite government payroll aid.

The managerial and administrative layoffs could start as early as October 1. Affected employees may be notified in July.

The airline industry has been hit especially hard by the COVID-19 outbreak.
