Police find body during search for missing woman

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - Police searching for a missing Jefferson County Missouri woman have found a body in a wooded area near Festus.

Fox 2 News crews on the scene along Scenic Drive report around 2:20 pm this afternoon police crews and medical officials removed a body from the scene.  Officers from police departments in Festus, Pevely, Herculaneum and Jefferson County have all been on the scene.  They are not commenting at this time on the discovery.

Police won't comment on whether the body found today is that of a man or woman.  They were seen removing evidence from the scene, including what appeared to be clothing.  Police will tell us the body has been taken to the Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy.  They expect to have an identification and cause of death tomorrow.

In the meantime, police tell us the search for Deborah Lynn Rawlins will continue and they have no updates to offer on the search.
