ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Change has come for Urban Chestnut Bar and Restaurant in St. Louis. Dogs are no longer allowed.
After nearly two years of a dog-friendly policy, where patrons could bring their well-behaved dogs in on a leash, Urban Chestnut has become a dog-free zone.
Urban Chestnut seats customers at community tables and, up until a couple days ago, dogs on the floor. But a scathing St. Louis Post-Dispatch article written after a reporter saw a dog urinate inside the restaurant made co-founder David Wolfe realize he was in violation of a city code.
I asked Wolfe why dogs were never an issue before. “They must not have been here when there were dogs. I doubt they were overlooking their code.”
Urban Chestnut has passed health code inspections.
