ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – The St. Louis Fire department is responding to an underground fire at 7th and Locust. An electrical transformer blew in an underground vault. Three elevators in the US Bank building stopped working. The bank has told employees to go home for the day.
The Fire Department has called a foam truck to help put out the underground fire. This is the same malfunctioning transformer that blew last summer.
Electrical utility Ameren says that there are no outages in the area.
7th street is closed to traffic from Washington to Locust.
More details will be posted as this story develops.
