ST. LOUIS – The U.S. Department of Agriculture wants to make more schools in low-income areas eligible for free school breakfast and lunches.
That’s according to the Wall Street Journal. Schools would qualify if 25% of students receive food stamps or are in food assistance programs.
Right now, that’s set at 40%. President Joe Biden supports the plan. Some republicans say they want eligibility to be based on family income.
