ALPINE, UT (CNN) – In Utah, residents in a neighborhood in alpine are returning home after floodwaters forced them out.
About a hundred people were evacuated for about half an hour.
Officials say about 12 homes were flooded.
Today (Sunday), volunteers lined up sandbags to prevent further damage.
Heavy rains have caused mudslides in addition to flooding.
The national weather service says three-quarters of an inch of rain fell in 15 minutes in alpine.
Much of the rainfall was concentrated in an area gutted by a previous wildfire — residents say rain water collected quickly in the barren area and cascaded toward homes.
