ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – A weekend warehouse fire turns deadly and investigators say it may have started as an act of vandalism.

A warehouse burned on south Wharf street Sunday night across from the brewery. A St. Louis Fire Department spokesman says preliminary finding shows three men inside the vacant building were vandalizing the warehouse and tearing open 55 gallon drums of a flammable liquid. The vapors were ignited, causing the explosion and fire.

Zach Mantei, 22, was identified as the fatal victim. One other person remains in local burn unit. A third person wasn’t hospitalized.
