(KTVI) – A new survey shows how military veterans feel about VA Hospitals in Missouri. The state has three major clinics, one in north St. Louis, one in Kansas City and a third in Columbia.
For overall care, nearly 80-percent of the veterans said the care at Truman VA Hospital in Columbia and its eight rural facilities is excellent or above average.
That’s 13-percent greater than responses from those treated at Kansas City and nearly 25-percent higher than St. Louis’ veteran responses.
Senator Claire McCaskill says, the surveys are the best way for Washington to connect with veterans.
Sen. Claire McCaskill says: “First of all, it’s a tremendous experience to work with the veterans in this way. It’s great for me; it’s great for my staff to have a good, working relationship with the veterans’ community in the state. And I also think it amplifies their voices in a way that’s appropriate.”
The survey results come as the Veterans Administration is under fire nationwide for allegedly creating false records that hid the long wait times for vets seeking medical care.
Right now, at least twenty-six facilities are under investigation by the VA’s Inspector General.
