ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - Victims say 55-year-old Sylvester Pruitt is facing burglary and theft charges after allegedly stealing a lawn mower and other items from a Compton Heights home.
The deeds were captured on video that ultimately put him behind bars.
Barbara Burrows instantly shared the video from one of her eight cameras with others on the Nextdoor community forum. Suddenly neighbors started talking and soon discovered that multiple homes on Milton Blvd., Missouri Ave., Hawthorne Blvd., Compton Ave. and Allen Ave. had been hit.
"I shared with neighborhoods affiliated in this area I asked if anyone knew this individual next thing you know there were 29 responses from people who has also been burglarized. They were posting pictures of him walking down alleys during the day.' said Burrows
According to the St. Louis City Circuit Attorney’s Office the crime spree started on July 22nd and over the course of a month the Pruitt racked up 12 felony burglary and misdemeanor stealing charges. He confessed to it all saying he did it to feed his drug habit.
Pruitt is currently being held at the St. Louis City Justice Center. While the cases make their way through the courts burrows will stay vigilant to keep her neighborhood safe.
"We try to take care of each other we have each other’s back and when bad things happen to us everybody jumps in.' she said
