ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Management of a south St. Louis Subway restaurant say their small strip mall is under attack by armed robber who has hit them and their neighbor in ten days. They say the video shows the same man is involved in both stickups.

The most recent robbery happened Monday night. Surveillance video obtained by Fox 2 shows the suspect walking up to the door, pulling a hood over his face, then trying to sneak inside. Moments later, he’s at the counter of the Subway store at 3628 S. Grand confronting a seventeen year old clerk with a gun.

“She’s shook up. Real shook up,” store General Manager Christina Schuler said of the young woman.

Schuler says her concern is heightened by the fact their next door neighbor, a Wing Stop restaurant, was hit just ten days earlier, on September 11th. Schuler says she’s seen that store’s video, and that the same man is involved.

“Same appearance, same description, all the way down to the gloves. It was the same guy,” she said.

A police reporter says two men were involved in the Wing Stop robbery. Wing Stop management would not comment on the incident there.

Subway officials worry about the bigger picture problems if the robber isn’t caught. They say they can’t have workers scared to show up.

“It is frustrating,” Schuler said. “You have younger people working. It scares them to death. It scares me for them sometimes. Trying to make sure you have good employees.   They’re trying to work hard. They’re trying to make money, then people do things like that. It kind of breaks your spirit.”

Customers share the frustration. John King was getting lunch with his young son.

“It’s uncomfortable. It’s an eerie feeling. You don’t want nothing going on when you got kids and you’ve got family and trying to spend your money. You don’t want nothing to happen to you.”

Schuler says they are releasing the video in hopes of both catching the crook, and sending a message.

“Just to let people know, we’re not gonna put up with it. We’re not gonna keep allowing it,” she said.

The man police are looking for is a black male, about 5’9”, between 140 and 180 pounds. He’s between 20 and 30 years old.
