ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – A 14-year-old boy shot and killed on his way home from the library is being remembered at a vigil Friday night at Fairgrounds Park.

Jamarr Mack Jr.'s mother, Danielle Smith, said this is a tragedy no one should have to face.

“Like, why would you kill somebody that's 14-years- old?” she said. “What did he do to make you want to shoot him dead and I want to say whoever you are, you are going to get caught.”

Detectives said Mack was killed Monday around 8 p.m. in the 4300 block of Lee Avenue in north St. Louis. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Mack, a student at Yetman Middle School, on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. He later died at the hospital.

CrimeStoppers is offering a reward up to $5,000 for anyone who has information leading to the arrest of the person or persons who killed Mack.
