(KTVI)- Operation Clean Stream is underway. It is one of the country’s largest and longest running river restoration projects.  Organized by the Open Space Council, it is held the fourth weekend of every August.

Volunteers will walk and boat along the Meramec River and its tributaries clearing flooding debris and all other trash.

The clean up continues Sunday. Volunteers will meet at Greentree Park in Kirkwood and be assigned a cleanup site.   There is no minimum age requirement for participation,  but children under 18 need adult supervision.
