ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) – 80-year-old Alma Meeks has lived in her North City home on Red Bud for more than 50 years.  She loves her family home and neighborhood, but recent rain caused her roof to leak and it nearly destroyed her property. Meeks found out that the community group Rebuilding Together was willing to help fix her place up. The organization has teamed up with the city to rehab more than 70 homes in the last 4 years. 21st Ward Alderman Antonio French says the improvements are making a difference in the community. The Meek home is one of three being worked on this weekend.

'When you pull in to your block you don`t want to see your buildings falling down grass looking bad and buildings all torn up. You feel good walking into a beautiful neighborhood.' said Meeks

'We have done projects for the last 4 years and we have tackled multiple buildings.  In the past we have rehabbed entire blocks, sometimes blocks with 2 or 3 homes per block.' said French

Volunteers from Boeing and two other companies will arrive at 7am Saturday morning and plan to work throughout the day. They are planning to paint, replace floors and finish last minute touch ups.
