SPRINGFIELD, Ill – Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker now says there are 25,733 cases and 1,072 deaths in the state. That is 125 new deaths in the last 24 hours. Several of those deaths are in the Metro East.

Governor Pritzker said he and several other Midwest governors announced a formal partnership to reflect our regional collaboration in response to COVID-19.

Pritzker said, “we are committing to work in close coordination as a region to most effectively reopen our economy with a fact-based data-driven approach.” Pritzker said each state will design its own plan, but with shared priorities.

The governor touted the state’s new testing machines, saying they will ramp up use over the next week. The state is estimating additional capacity of thousands more tests per day at our state labs alone.

When it comes to PPE, Pritzker says items have been delivered to 102 counties from the state’s stockpile. “We’ve sent out more than 10 million items including 5 million surgical masks over 1.5 million N95 masks, nearly 20,000 gowns over 4 million gloves and nearly 200,000 face shields,” said Pritzker.
