For six months, Fox 2 News followed Class 193 through the St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy. In an exclusive series of reports, reporter Katie Kormann introduced us to three of the recruits who shared their personal experiences throughout the journey. Katie's stories showed the kind of training recruits received at the academy, and she spoke to academy instructors about the subjects they teach and their approach to teaching.
In December, 27 recruits graduated and became officers for the St. Louis County, University City, and Chesterfield Police Departments. Recruits immediately went to work serving their communities.
One month later, Fox 2 reunited three former recruits: Officer Mary Mills, Officer Trevor Green and Officer Octavia Hearon, with two of their instructors: Officer Kathy Poncin and Officer Eric Austermann, as well as St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar to discuss their experience at the academy, and to find out how the new officers are using their training on the job.
