(KTVI) – This woman heard her first sound at age 39. Joanne’s Milne’s reaction was caught on video when her cochlear implants were turned on for the first time. The video shows Milne breaking down as she becomes overwhelmed with emotion. She hears the days of the week spoken for the first time.
According to The Independent Joanne’s Milne has been deaf since birth and lost her sight in her mid-20s. She was born with a rare condition called Usher Syndrome.
Milne was fitted with the implants in February. She had to wait until after the procedure to have the device turned on and tested.
