1 fatality at water rescue on the Meramec River in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – Franklin County Sheriff Gary Toelke is confirming that one person is dead from a water rescue on the Meramec River. Multiple departments have responded to the scene near Meramec State Park.

Authorities tell FOX2 a vehicle went into the water near Hamilton Hollow Road and that the vehicle may have turned over. It’s believed the vehicle was swept away by water on the road from Tuesday’s rain.

FOX2 has a crew on the way to the scene and will have new information as we get it.
