Man painting Damiansville water tower falls to death

DAMIANSVILLE, IL – An Iowa man fell to his death from a water tower in Damiansville, IL Monday afternoon. Emergency crews were called at around 2 pm to the intersection of West Main Street and Parish Lane.. According to reports a 31-year-old Iowa man was painting the along with two other men when he fell 100 feet. A woman and her husband also stopped and helped with CPR.   The man was taken to St. Joseph`s Hospital where he died 30 minutes later. Village trustees say they were starting on their second week of a two week $36,000 paint job.

OSHA safety inspectors were also on the scene conducting their investigation. City officials say one of the two other men on the crew who tried to save his co-worker just started.
