ST. CHARLES, MO (KTVI) - The St. Charles Police Department honored a little girl who wanted to give some of her savings to some of the hardest working members of the department.

Tuesday the St. Charles Police Departments K-9 unit held a demonstration at the Wentzville South Middle School for the students.

But what they really wanted to do was to make a big deal out of thanking 7th grader Kylee Myers who wanted to give $50 of her savings to the K-9 unit.  She wanted to do it privately, but the chief convinced her parents and the school to have her make the donation at the student assembly.

In honor of her donation the department gave Kylee a glass picture of their police dogs.  Kylee wanted to make the donation because she wants to be a K-9 officer someday.

The money will be used to care for the canines at the St. Charles Police Department.
