ST. LOUIS– Two women were injured after a MoDOT vehicle was hit while doing work on I-64 this morning. The crash happened on I-64 and Long Road in Chesterfield and shut the westbound lanes down for less than an hour.
The Missouri Highway Patrol says an Acura RDX didn’t change lanes in time and hit the rear of the MoDOT truck.
The Acura then spun around, traveled across two lanes of traffic, and collided with a Chevy Spark. The front of the Spark hit the driver side of the Acura.
The Chevy Spark then went off the road and hit a guardrail. Two women in that car had moderate injuries and went to the hospital.
Today’s incident comes on the start of MoDOT’s “Work Zone Awareness Week.” They urge everyone to drive carefully, especially in work zones.
