RANDOLPH COUNTY, IL (KTVI) – A woman from Waterloo, IL, was killed and several others were injured in a three-vehicle crash near Red Bud, IL Sunday night. According to the Monroe County Republic-Times, the crash occurred around 8:00pm on Route 3 east of Ames Road, not far from the Monroe/Randolph County line.

A Ford Explorer driven by Dennis Malott, 63, of Red Bud, was heading east on Route 3 when the SUV crossed into the westbound lane hitting two vehicles, a GMC Acadia and a Mitsubishi Lancer.

Melanie D. Guerra, 34, of Waterloo, a passenger in the Acadia, was killed in the crash. The driver of the Acadia, Robert W. Guerra, 36, and four children in the car were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

Three teenagers in the Mitsubishi were not hurt.

Marlott was injured and taken to the hospital.  He has been charged with operating an uninsured vehicle and improper lane usage.

Route 3 was closed for six hours as Illinois State Police investigated  the crash and crews worked to clear the scene.
