(KTVI)– The You Paid For It team investigating a project in St. Charles County where the county council awarded a $5 Million contract to the sole bidder on a park project.

Last year St Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann criticized the head of the St. Charles Elections Board for wanting to use the sole bidder on a million dollar contract for voting equipment.

We caught up with the county executive and asked if this was a double standard.

Multiple bids are a good thing for taxpayers because they create competition which usually brings down the cost of the project. Steve Ehlmann says the county’s design team told them their sole bid was a good offer so they went with that offer instead of rebidding the project.

St. Charles County Councilman Joe Cronin says he had his doubts about this project at the outside.
