LITCHFIELD, IL (KTVI)-- Two children who survived a fatal crash near Litchfield, Illinois Friday learned some sad news Wednesday.

Their father had to tell them that their mother and two brothers were killed in the crash.

They have been identified as Alea Shannon, 27, and her sons Alfredo McGee Jr., 8, and Armondo McGee, 2.

Alfredo McGee Sr. was driving one of the vehicles involved in the crash.

He was taken to a Litchfield hospital and then flown to a Springfield hospital.

His two daughters, Annastashia, 6, and Alicea, 5, survived the crash and were taken to Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center.

"We did not tell the girls about their mother and brothers because that is something their father wanted to do," their cousin Deonta Rodgers said.

Their father was released from the hospital Wednesday and went straight to Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center to tell the girls.

"It is just something that is not going to go away," Rodgers said.

If you'd like to help the family with funeral expenses or anything else, donations are being accepted at P.O. Box 6123 E. St. Louis, Illinois 62201.
