Montee Ball leads Wisconsin past Illini, 31-14

Wenztville, MO native Montee Ball ran for 116 yards and two touchdowns to lead Wisconsin past the Fighting Illini 31-14 on Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin. The Badgers also got two TD passes from Joel Stave of 62 and 59 yards to seal the win.

Illinois quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase ran for one score and threw a TD pass, but it wasn’t enough. East St. Louis native Terry Hawthorne was injured in the third quarter of this game while making a tackle. Hawthorne was removed from the field on a backboard and into an ambulance that took him to a local hospital. Hawthorne underwent a CAT scan. The results were immediately known, but Hawthorne was alert and moving all of his limbs.

The loss drips the Illini’s record to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in Big Ten play.
