Blues pick Defenseman in 1st Round of NHL Draft

With the 25th pick in the first round of the NHL Draft on Friday night in Pittsburgh, the Blues selected defenseman Jordan Schmaltz. The 18 year old defenseman is scheduled to play his college hockey at North Dakota.

Schmaltz split the 2011-12 season between two USHL teams, Sioux City and Green Bay. Schmaltz scored 10 goals and 31 assists for 41 points in 55 games. Schmaltz stands 6’2″ and weighs 189 pounds. He is a right handed shooting defenseman.

The Blues conclude the NHL draft with seven more selections tomorrow.
