ST. LOUIS, MO – Oakville native Pat Maroon, who came home to play for and win the Stanley Cup with the St. Louis Blues, will be heading back out of town. He has signed a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Patrick Maroon played his first eight NHL seasons away from St. Louis. He turned down higher offers from the New Jersey Devils and the San Jose Sharks to sign with his hometown Blues for the 2018-2019 season where he could play in front of his family. The team would, of course, go on to make the playoffs, where he scored the double-overtime series-clinching goal in Game 7 of the second round against Dallas.
Welcome to Tampa, @patmaroon!
We’ve signed him to a one-year contract worth $900,000.
