ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- The St. Louis Blues has agreed to a contract extension with goaltender Jake Allen. Allen, who had one year remaining on his contract, signed a four-year extension worth $17.4 million on Friday.
Over the last two seasons, Allen has started 84 regular season games, sharing the goaltending duties with Brian Elliott. Elliott was traded to Calgary Flames last week in exchange for a second-round draft pick and a conditional third-round pick in 2018.
The Blues got Allen’s backup in Carter Hutton, who signed Friday for two years and $2.25 million. Hutton, 30, just finished up a two-year contract with the Nashville Predators working behind Pekka Rinne.
