David Freese and Carlos Beltran started on the bench, but ended up in the game. Skip Schumaker started the game, but ended up on the bench. And he could wind up on the disabled list. The injury bug continues as the Cardinals pitching collapsed in a 10-7 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night.

Schumaker suffered a tight hamstring. The Cardinals suffered from pitching that wasn’t so tight. Kyle Lohse gave up five earned runs in five innings. The bullpen served up the other five runs. A Daniel Descalso rbi single in the sixth tied the game at five.

Freese dealing with a sprained wrist ended up pinch-hitting and playing third base. Beltran dealing with a sore knee delived a pinch-hit rbi single in the eighth.

The Cardinals are off on Thursday before a series with the Mets begins on Friday in New York.
