ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – The St Louis Cardinals Tuesday activated Outfielder Allen Craig from the disabled list.  Craig is available for the Cardinals’ series opener tonight against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Busch Stadium.

In order to make room for Craig on the roster, the Cardinals also designated Outfielder Erik Komatsu for assignment to the minor leagues.  Komatsu was a Rule 5 Draft Selection by the team last winter.

Craig had knee surgery over the winter and has been recovering in the off season.  He played in Spring Training games, but had a set back and wasn’t able to open the season with the big club.

You may remember Craig caught the last out of the 2011 World Series when the Cardinals clinched against the Texas Rangers.  Craig is 27 years old and hit two home runs in his last minor league start Monday night for Memphis.
