Cardinals Announce 2013 Season Opening Roster

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny announced the final roster cuts on the last day of Spring Training on Friday. The Cards assigned the following players to their Class AAA farm club in Memphis. Outfielders Oscar Taveras and Adron Chambers, infielder Greg Garcia, catcher Rob Johnson and pitcher Maikel Cleto will all start the season in the minor leagues. Taveras the Cardinals top hitting prospect had a great spring and was told by Cardinals management to expect a call up to St. Louis sometime.during the 2013 season.

Here is the season opening roster for the Cardinals. They open the 2013 year on Monday night in Arziona against the Diamondbacks.

PITCHERS (12): Mitchell Boggs, Randy Choate, Jaime Garcia, Joe Kelly, Lance Lynn, Shelby Miller, Edward Mujica, Trevor Rosenthal, Marc Rzepczynski, Fernando Salas, Adam Wainwright, Jake Westbrook.

CATCHERS (2): Tony Cruz, Yadier Molina

INFIELDERS (7): Matt Adams, Matt Carpenter, Allen Craig, Daniel Descalso, Ryan Jackson, Pete Kozma, Ty Wigginton.

OUTFIELDERS (4): Carlos Beltran, Matt Holliday, Jon Jay, Shane Robinson

Disabled List (4): Chris Carpenter, Jason Motte, David Freese, Rafael Furcal
