A wild baseball game at Busch Stadium on Thursday night finally finished in the Cardinals favor, 13-7 over the Rockies.

The Redbirds had built an early 4-0 lead, only to see Colorado score six unanswered runs to take a 6-4 lead. The Cardinals then responded with a six run 4th inning to rebuild their lead to 10-6. Matt Carpenter’s three run homer in the 8th inning secured the win making it a 13-7 score.

Carpenter was the big hitting star for the Cards, with three hits and six runs batted in. Matt Adams had a pair of hits and four RBI. Stephen Piscotty banged out three hits while driving in a pair of runs. Tyler Lyons was the winning pitcher in relief of Michael Wacha. Lyons pitched three innings, allowing just one run to earn the victory. Michael Wacha was ineffective, allowing six runs in just four innings pitched.

The win gives the Cardinals a season record of 22-19. The Arizona Diamondbacks come to Busch Stadium this weekend for a three game series.
