ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - The St. Louis Cardinals held a press conference to announce that the man that led the team to the 2013 World Series will get a contract extension. Matheny will sign on for three more years with the National League Champs. He will be managing the Cards through the 2017 season.

The Cards made another big announcement on Wednesday. Veteran pitcher Chris Carpenter is officially announcing his retirement from baseball. Carpenter has been playing with the Redbirds since 2003.
