Cardinals pitcher Jaime Garcia got his first victory in more than a year on Saturday night, another step in his comeback from shoulder surgery leading the Cardinals to a 6-3 victory over the Reds in Cincinnati.
Garcia (1-0) gave up six hits and a pair of runs in 5 2-3 innings pitched. He also struck out seven Reds batters in the victory. Trevor Rosenthal came on with two outs and struck out the Reds Todd Frazier with two runners aboard for his 15th save in 17 chances.
The Cardinals offense was paced by Jon Jay, who had three hits and two RBI. Matt Holliday also collected three hits and drove in one run. Yadier Molina hit his fifth home run of the season, giving the Cards an early 2-0 lead.
Fox 2 Sports reporter Charlie Marlow talked it over with Jaime Garcia. The lefty is really glad to be back and contributing in the Cardinals starting pitching rotation.
