Randal Grichuk hit a walk off home run in the bottom of the 9th inning to give the Cardinals a 4-3 win over their arch-rivals, the first place Chicago Cubs. Matt Adams had tied the game with a two run pinch homer in the 7th inning to make it a 3-3 game. Early on it was a pitching duel between Adam Wainwright and former Cardinal, now Cubs pitcher John Lackey. Trevor Rosenthal, who pitched a scoreless top of 9th inning, got the win in relief. The come from behind victory moves the Cardinals to within six games of the Cubs and the top spot in the NL’s Central division.
