Cardinals shortstop Jhonny Peralta hit his 17th home run of the season in the Redbirds win over Cincinnati on Tuesday night. That homer set a new season high mark for Cardinals shortstops. The previous record was held by former Redbirds shortstop Edgar Renteria with 16 home runs in the 2000 season. Peralta is happy about setting a new record and hoping to hit at least 20 home runs this season.
