Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright was just that on Tuesday night at Busch Stadium. Waino shut out the hapless Houston Astros 7-0 throwing a complete game shutout. Wainwright tied his career high with 12 strikeouts in one game. It was Wainwright’s 2nd shutout and third complete game this season. He now has a 12-10 record for 2012. Wainwright just owns the Astros. With tonight’s win, Waino is now 12-1 with a 1.56 ERA against Houston in his career.

Offensively the Cardinals pounded out 13 hits and those 7 runs. Yadier Molina led the way with three hits and two runs batted in. Jon Jay also had three hits and drove in one run.  Skip Schumaker drove in two runs with a first inning single, highlighting a four run 1st to give Wainwright a big early lead.

The Reds won their game so the Cardinals remain eight games back in the NL Central Division race. The Pirates were still playing the Padres on the west coast as of this writing. Currently, the Cards trail Pittsburgh by one game in the NL Wild Card race.
