The Cardinals worst fears became reality on Thursday morning when All-Star catcher Yadier Molina was diagnosed with a torn ligament in his right thumb. Molina will undergo surgery on Friday and will miss anywhere between 8 and 12 weeks to recover from the procedure. Molina injured his thumb while sliding into third base on Wednesday night in the Cards win over the Pirates. Molina's thumb got caught in the dirt while sliding and the impact tore the ligament in Molina's throwing thumb.
