ST. LOUIS – St. Louis CITY SC run of form since the Leagues Cup restart has been anything but smooth.

CITY is 2-2-1 since returning from a month long break. Including a matchup against LAFC prio to the break, CITY is winless in its last four road matches.

During that run, three of the five matches have featured a red card. CITY forward Sam Adeniran has been the recipient of one, including a questionable hand-ball call against LA Galaxy in Saturday’s 2-2 draw in Los Angeles. The aforementioned forward was also on the receiving end of two offsides calls that, if not called, would have resulted in goals for St. Louis.

“Sometimes in football that’s just the way it goes,” Adeniran explained.

His coach, Bradley Carnell, agrees, alluding to run of of misfortune.

“We’ve seen now, in five of the last eight matches, calls go…. unfortunately on the other side of the grain,” Carnell said. “We haven’t had the calls and we haven’t had the luck to get those calls.”

Both Carnell and Adeniran agree that despite the poor run of luck, CITY needs to focus on what it can control. Their next opportunity will come Saturday in Houston against the Houston Dynamo at 7:30 p.m.

CITY still maintains a seven point lead over the Seattle Sounders atop the Western Conference Standings with six matches left to go in the regular season.
