Dave Murray’s latest stl forecast and weather disco…For Wednesday…December 4, 2013

*** The cold air is lagging about 10 hours…still on the way but we get another mild day on Wednesday…then all about cold with developing sleet and snow to snow Thursday and Friday…After Wednesday…cold will be king until at least the 20th…Details below***.

Clouds and some sun…windy and much of the day is mild…dropping temps very late day
Winds: South 15-25 m.p.h.
High: 68 degrees

Wednesday night:

Lots of clouds and colder…windy
Winds: Northwest 15-25 m.p.h.
Low: 29 degrees.

Cloudy and colder…windy…with sleet and snow developing mid afternoon…dry for the morning rush
Winds: Northwest 15-25 m.p.h.
High: 32 degrees

Sleet and snow Thursday night..snow on Friday…very cold Friday and all weekend long…Some more light snow on Sunday

The winter weather action is still on track…but the cold…arctic cold front is slowling down just a little…rolling into town mid to late day on Wednesday…so we will squeeze another mild day out before the boat load of cold works in. Once we get the air into town…the first of two impulses will track in from the southwest…these are not big winter storms…but will carry enough moitsure to get things interesting. Snow and sleet will start mid Thursday afternoon with the first wave…1 to 2 inches…then a little break–then the second impulse from the southwest takes over with all snow for Friday…thinking late morning and afternoon(but that timing is in question…the system is still in the pacific) That second batch should bring 2 to 3 inches of snow before ending Friday night. The weekend…big cold for Saturday…another system rolls in Sunday…limited moisture to work with in the cold and somehwat dry air…but should see some more light snow in here Sunday into Sunday evening. This is a fast start to winter for STL. As mentioned in the headline…cold will be king to atleast the 20th of December.
